Overview
Each event has its own attendees, help queue, and check-in log — they never mix. Guests can check in for every event marked "Live on kiosk" — several can be live at once (e.g. all of today's sessions: the kiosk searches all their lists and shows which session each name is for). Put an event live or take it off with its "Live on kiosk" switch below; the header dropdown above just changes which one you're looking at here in Admin, so you can prep a future event without touching what's live.
The Archive button archives an event — hides it here and takes it off the kiosk if it was live, but keeps everything. An archived event auto-deletes permanently after a week, keeping only one Excel of who was registered and who showed up — unless you restore it first. Give an event a date and it'll also archive itself automatically, 2 days after; leave the date blank and nothing happens on its own.
Every event belongs to a client, and the client decides the badge. A client has one design; add a Speaker or VIP version if those guests need a different badge (picked by their ticket type — everyone else gets the Guest one). Upload a design straight from Illustrator as SVG: name the text layers (first-name, last-name, name, company, title), keep those as text (not outlines), and check each layer in the upload window before saving.
Every device running the kiosk app (PC or tablet) shows up here on its own, the first time it's turned on — nothing to add by hand. Rename a kiosk to whatever's useful to you (e.g. "Front Desk"), and use the toggle to take one out of rotation without touching it — guests on a disabled kiosk see a plain "this kiosk is unavailable" screen instead of being able to check in.
Kiosk orientation
Whether the kiosk screen (and name-lookup screen) is laid out for a tall/portrait or wide/landscape display. The design itself doesn't change — this just tells it which shape screen to fill without leaving empty bars on the side.
Badge pickup instructions
When there's no staff member nearby to explain it in person, show guests a dedicated screen — with a "Continue" button — for exactly what to do with their badge right after it prints.
Watchlist
Names to flag. Anyone on this list lights up red, with ⚠ Watchlist, wherever they appear here in Admin — Registrants, Check-in log, Help needed and when importing a list. One name per line. Capitals, accents and first/last name order don't matter, but a different spelling does (add it as an extra line). Only staff see this — the kiosk and guests never do.
Print relay (for tablets)
Tablets can't print directly (no Windows printer access at all), so they send print jobs over the local WiFi to one designated PC instead — see "Printing" in the README. This is that PC's local network address (e.g. http://10.0.10.50:8091/relay-print), used by every tablet; the shared secret that goes with it is set up separately, once per tablet, and never lives here.
Help requests
Posted to a Slack channel the moment someone taps "Ask for help" at the kiosk, or a few other notable things happen (a badge fails to print, a scanned code can't be matched, someone picks a name then says it wasn't them). Join the Slack channel to get notified there too — it's private, so you'll need to already be in the Bump Slack workspace, and someone already in the channel (e.g. Margriet) will need to approve your request. Every one of these always shows up in the Help needed queue either way — this is just an extra heads-up so whoever's on duty notices immediately. (The message text itself isn't editable here — it's set directly in the code, see `SLACK_MESSAGES` in `cloudflare/functions/_lib/db.js`.)
Clear all registrant data
If the name-lookup kiosk is in use, the registrant list is a searchable directory of real people by design — it shouldn't be kept around after the event it was built for. This permanently deletes every registrant and the help queue for whichever event you're currently viewing (see the switcher at the top) — other events aren't touched. There's no undo — only do this once that event is over.
